Freebie of the Week: ZØRORMR
In case you’re not familiar with the concept of “Freebie of the Week”, here’s a brief explanation… Each week I go on a little hunt through the vast wastelands of the Internet in search of FREE and LEGAL downloads. So, all of the downloads featured here will be obtainable through trustworthy means… and they’ll be guilt-free. For example, I will only ever feature music available from official band websites, profiles (such as MySpace, Reverbnation or Facebook) and Last.fm (or equivalent).

It’s no secret that I love ZØRORMR’s “Kval”, so it gives me great pleasure to share these freebies with you…

Info:
THE BEGINNING
In the beginning there was the Word… and everything was born from it. Around 2003 the voyage into the unknown begun and first attempts to write dark ambient music were made. But it was in 2006 that resulted in a full length CD debut of dark ambient / neoclassical music entitled “Withering Hopes” under the name SERPENTORIA. The album released on Walpurgisnacht attracted some magazine and fans’ attention making it quite successfull in the darkest pits of the Underground Scene. All the copies of this disturbing work of human anxiety and unhealthy fascination were sold out. Thus has started the journey of the Golden Serpent…
THE GOLDEN SERPENT ERA (2006-2009)
Over one year and a half after the debut the second opus “Onoskelis” was released under the changed name I.A. SERPENTOR. It was a concept album dealing with the female satyr to be introduced as the green fairy! An album of dark and diverse music drowned in the whirlpools of absinthe, and was released by Insomnya Records (later a part of Via-Nocturna Records) on the 31st January 2008! Under the same name a special EP entitled “Yog-Sothoth” was prepared presenting sounds that devoured everyone into the world of Ye Old Ones!
THE BIRTH OF ZORORMR (2010)
The sudden passing of Ioannes Aurelius Serpentor made possible the creation of ZØRORMR (meaning: The Serpent of The South) a merge between the characteristical dark ambient sounds of the Golden Serpent Era and cruel guitar rumble of black metal. So the album “Kval” was made, the yet the most horrible abomination of them all… This time the author of “Withering Hopes” returns with an album filled with atrocities and disgusting riffs depicting the main topic of the record – suffering! The album was recorded in the infamous Vatican Cellars Studio in Opole (Poland), a private studio of the late I.A. Serpentor.
All the tracks had been recorded by the artist himself, but there is also a special guest that participated in the ZØRORMR session in the recording of “Misanthropy” – the second track from the “Kval” album. That guest was Quazarre of DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS & CRIONICS! He recorded a stunning solo for this track! But that’s not all! This hidious release consists of 9 extravagant ambient black metal tracks. Whole album lasts almost 34 minutes and is full of suffering and fear, with an oldschool sound and production.
THE AFTERMATH
ZØRORMR, the newest incarnation of the man known by many names: Imblanzytor de Serpy, Serpentoria, Ioannes Aurelius Serpentor, is a strange and exciting experiance. Combining the finest dark ambient and neoclassical inspirations with the true norwegian black metal sound and aggression ZØRORMR is the new byword for “oldschool”. Hesitate no more and indulge yourself with the sounds from “Kval”. And if it’s not enough be aware taht a new album is in the making…
