The song was recorded at the beginning of 2012 and the band are now searching for a new label to release the 6th full-length album.

Formed in 1993 in Bergen, and with six full length albums under their belts, AETERNUS is one of the pioneers of what the band calls “Dark Metal”, meshing the sounds of Black Metal and Death Metal with superlative guitar playing and occasional haunting, melodic interludes. Of the original line up, only founder, guitarist and frontman Ares remains, but he has put together a new and formidable line up, bringing onboard drummer Phobos (GRAVDAL, GALAR, MALSAIN) and guitarist Specter (GRAVDAL, live session guitarist GALAR & VULTURE INDUSTRIES). Session live bass is handled by Skyggen (TORTORUM, live session guitarist GORGOROTH). The new lineup will hit the stage at the Hub and Heuy Metalfest at De Azijnfabriek in Roermond, Netherlands on the 19thMay, with an exclusive set showcasing tracks from AETERNUS’ first two albums “Beyond the Wandering Moon” and “And So the Night Became”.

Commenting on the re-emergence of the band, seven years after the release of their last album “Hexaeon”, Ares said:

“Time seems to just pass by without you realising. Although AETERNUS hasn’t seemed to be very active recently, I have been writing and working on new material, and we have chosen ten tracks for the new album which we have been rehearsing ready for when we enter the studio. I’m not going to say much about them except that Phobos and Specter have brought their own approach to things without losing any of the heaviness, power and intensity that people have come to expect from AETERNUS. It’s a whole new era for the band, and we can’t wait to get going”

Their self-titled album is amazing example of determination, which has in only few years of practise and gigs led to same level of knowledge and skills, that many groups gain after a decade of hard work.

Group’s last EP has recieved great reviews and ‘demo of the month’ -titles all around. After this it was only natural to redeem the promises of a glorious debut. Album was recorded at Studio 33 and at a family shack, among rats and ghosts with the power of only one fuse, in god-forsaken little village. As supervisour and soundengineer during recording and mixing process operated Jukka Ruostila. Album was mastered at Virtalähde-studios.

Material of the album continues where their previous EP left of. Few of the old songs were re-recorded, but on the tape was also caught their most frantic punk-styled song and into epic measures reaching last act.

Advance sale is handled by Record Shop X and Inverse Store.

Sammath will be unleashing their 5th CD of blistering black metal via Folter Records in November. Unfortunately, I don’t know the name of the album or the exact release date at this time. But, as soon as I do know, it’ll be posted here on Loucifer Speaks! In the meantime, keep an eye on folter666.de for album release information.

The band will also be releasing both their 1996 and 1997 demos through Zwaertgevegt. Check out zwaertgevegt.blogspot.com for details.

Anyway, I digress, I do like some mail… and the recent newsletter from Old Corpse Road was one of those emails that just made my little face light up with glee (and I’m NOT referring to that awful TV show)…

There are two reasons why OCR’s recent newsletter brightened my day…

#1: The new album!

The band have given us news on their forthcoming album. Due to the fact that I’m lazy (and I also love a nice lil quote) I have copied the info for your perusal below:

All vocals have now been recorded for the album leaving only a few acoustic parts and some finishing touches before we can begin the mixing stage.

We’ll keep you posted on our progress and we hope to share some samples with you soon!

I think we can all agree that this deserves quite a substatial “YAY!”. Oh, if you haven’t listened to OCR yet, I suggest that you do so now. You can grab a free download from this page. Enjoy!
