This CD is worth getting purely for the multimedia section - it looks awesome. That aside, the music on 'Psychopathicolorspectrumï' is Grind/Death with a very modern element. This is grind for the space-age generation! Alienation Mental arent afraid to use melodies and this is particularly apparent in Erase head.
For me, many grind albums these days just don't have that all-important 'replay' factor. I find myself listening to them once or twice and then forgetting about them almost instantly. Alienation Mental seem to have avoided this. 'Psychopathicolorspectrum' is highly memorable and the design of the cover etc, has definitely helped with this. With the music set aside for the time being, this album doesnt look like another extreme metal album. With its modern/technological design it looks like an entirely new beast altogether and this works in its favour very well indeed.
Some of the tracks that really caught my attention on this album were the opener "A Yellow Symbol" (it's straight to the point and provides the band with an excellent way to start proceedings!), Erase head (even though the riff does sound very mainstream, perhaps even 'nu metallyï' to an extent, it turns out to be a fantastic track - don't be put off!), 'Mass Raped Hammer' (awesome stuff! Even if the title did make me laugh a little bit!) and the title track (this one has an excellent groove I predict that I may be giving myself whiplash to this in the future and the bass has a fantastic sound).
In conclusion, Alienation Mental are definitely a band that I'm going to be keeping an eye on.
