Carpathia This isn't strictly a CD Review, since I listened to the tracks on the band's MySpace, but I'm pretty sure that it is available on CD, so it still counts!

Carpathia hail from Coventry where they formed in 2005 and began to play their own brand of Black/Thrash Metal.

The first track on the Demo, "Corporeal Nightmares", starts off with a nice chunky riff which is coupled with a really noticeable bassline. I really like the Black Metal style vocals and they seem to give the whole sound a bit more of an edge. A bit more of a bite! Maybe it?s because this band are described as Black/Thrash Metal, but I am reminded of Necrodeath when I listen to them.

The piano and violin in "Disconnect" are a fantastic touch and show that Carpathia have a touch more depth than you might expect. The almost orchestral feel brings a whole new dimension to the track and to the Demo as a whole. "Disconnect" is definitely my favourite track out of the two.

It's difficult to rate a band after only listening to two tracks (even though I have listened to them repeatedly for two hours!) and I would have preferred another couple of tracks on this demo, just to give me a bit more of an idea about what this band can do. As it is, I was very impressed by this demo and would like to put my name down on a list to pre-order an album (that is, on the hope that an album will follow sometime soon! - hint hint).
