Cerebral Turbulency Cerebral Turbulency is a grind band, which was formed in 1993 and I'm going to review their current release "Crash Test". Up until receiving this release I had absolutely no idea who this band were, having heard it I feel that I'm going to need to add some more Cerebral Turbulency to my collection!

"Crash Test" is 13 tracks of unrelenting carnage. "Tearmeinto" kicks things off which a fantastically heavy riff and the keys provide an unexpected, yet very welcome new level. The vocals are very distinctive and quite fun to try and mimic... unfortunately I have no idea what the guy?s saying so I just tend to make up words!
"Evil Machinegun" is, quite frankly, my favourite track from this album. It moves along at a great pace and it makes every muscle in your body tense up in preparation for going into a battle... or a mosh pit at the very least. The change in tempo at around 2 minutes in provides the listener with a bit of relief and my neck muscles were very grateful for the opportunity to headbang a little slower for about 30 seconds!

This may sound strange, but "Strojovka" shows that Cerebral Turbulency are able to use melody as well as brutality to their advantage. Don't get me wrong, this isn't or ballad or anything of the sort, but this track does contain a definite tune and it works incredibly well because of it. I will also add that while the first thing you might notice about this CD is the brutality, after a few listens, the melody does start to shine through.
"Der Gehirnsturm" is my second favourite (or possibly joint first place with "Evil Machinegun"). Everything about it just spot on. However, my only problem with it - like a lot of the tracks on the CD - at 2 minutes 39 seconds it is a bit on the short side. Admittedly this isn't too much of a problem, but when I'm really getting into a track sometimes I feel that I'd like it to last a bit longer. With that said, I've found hitting the 'repeat' button also works perfectly well. "Va?ekino" is a good track, but after the majesty of "Der Gehirnsturm" it fails to shine. "?i me?i?e" seems to be a track that would definitely work well live. I can imagine a venue full of people throwing themselves around to this pretty easily. In fact, it's a struggle to suppress movement while I'm sitting here at my desk. "fff anilo rak" continues where the previous track left off and while Cerebral Turbulency are a grind band, I can possibly detect some thrash influences here.
Cerebral Turbulency have found themselves another awesome live track in the form of "Lessor 1x, 2x, 3x More". I like the way that there are varying tempos throughout the track. The tempo changes continue in "Copy Culture" and the bass at around 2 minutes is excellent.
The vocals in "Total Agyzavar" are very well done and find that the throatier growl in this track is more favourable to the shoutier growls elsewhere on the album (and elsewhere in this track). "Final Ensemble" hits you at an incredible speed. The track lasts just under 2 minutes and leaves you with the feeling of just having been hit by meteor or something. This is very good stuff.
"Bajaja" kicks off with a fairly simple, but very effective riff and this is an idea that was also implemented at the start of "Lion Ferdi". "Lion Ferdi" provides the band with an excellent closer to the album.

Cerebral Turbulency have managed to sidestep the landmine which many grind bands face and have succeeded in creating an album where each track has it's own character and, while the tracks do compliment each other well, do not sound exactly the same.
