When this album arrived from AFM Records I have to admit that I was a little bit surprised. Up until this point I'd never really associated the label with Death Metal and yet here I was standing there with the new release from Debauchery in my hands.
"Continue To Kill" is an album full of straight-up Death Metal tracks with a definite Rock / 80s Metal vibe. Just check out "Hard Rockin'", "Metal On Metal" or "Walking Glory Roads" to get an idea of what I'm talking about. The spoken part at the end of "Metal On Metal" is definitely worth raising your fists to - "death metal maniacs - I salute you!". Since I'm not too familiar with the band, I'm not sure if this is a sound that they usually go for, but it's definitely a pretty fresh experience for me. In fact, it almost reminds me of the sound that Carcass had on "Keep On Rotting In The Free World". I'd imagine that most of these tracks would be excellent live.
Most of all, this album sounds like what Death Metal would look like if it had a huge grin on it's face. Or even 'Death Metal on the Rocks'! It's fast-paced and to-the-point and never lets up. It contains plenty of moments where you really feel like you're part of the gang (the aforementioned "Metal On Metal" included) and there does seem to be a lot of the "us against them" attitude running through the 14 songs here... and, as far as I'm concerned, this is a very good thing.
I would list some 'recommended tracks', but it seems pointless. This album truly is 'all killer and no filler'.
