Before I listened to this album I was expecting it to be full of straight forward Power Metal... it seems that I was a little bit wrong...
"The Second Coming" is a fantastic slab of Power Metal, Rock and some good ol' 80s flavoured Metal thrown in for good measure. Things do get a little bit cheesy with tracks like "Man Against The World" (I'm sure the track was written with the greatest of intentions, but unfortunately it does make me cringe), but I suppose that's what the God Of Metal invented the 'skip' button for. Thankfully Eden's Curse redeem themselves with storming tracks like "Masquerade Ball", "Angels and Demons" and "Raven's Revenge".
Aside from the odd moment that makes me raise one of my eyebrows in a quizzical fashion either due to a slightly cliched lyric or because of the aforementioned "Man Against The World", "The Second Coming" has ranked very highly with me. It appeals to the part of me that thinks Edguy are bloody brilliant (which they are... but I'll save that for another review). This is great for anyone looking for some decent Metal to sing along to.
