AFM Records seem to be very busy bunnies at the moment - with this release hot on the heels of President Evil's "Hell in a Box" and just ahead of "Continue To Kill" by Debauchery.
Illdisposed are one of those bands that have passed me by almost entirely. I own none of their stuff and if I hadn’t been sent this, I probably would have never even listened to it. However, having listened to it several times for the purpose of this review, I'm suddenly struck with the feeling that I've been missing out on something rather good.
Every track here is packed full of infectious energy. You cannot stand still while listening to this - Fact! Try listening to "Weak Is Your God" without moving a muscle... You can't. It's impossible. If your daily dose of caffeine isn't doing the trick anymore, throw this album on and you'll be awake in no time.
The songs here are incredibly well crafted and no two sound the same. At the same time, no two sound odd next to each other. Illdisposed definitely have their own sound that's instantly recognisable. The tempo changes and lead guitar in "Working Class Zero" show that the band is able to do so much more than just the expected aggression. "...Your Devoted Slave" also deserves mentioning here... just because it's so damn good!
One of the best albums of the year? Since we're only in March it may be too soon to tell, but it's a strong possibility.
