Image Treason What happens when you mix a large dose of Post Hardcore with a big helping of metal and a touch of Doom? The answer is "Alms" by Image Treason.

When I find myself reviewing a band that I'm not familiar with, I often do a quick bit of research online and when I discovered the words 'Post hardcore' popping up time and time again, I must admit that I was a little worried. But, luckily, this release from Image Treason isn’t too far away from the realms of Metal that know and love.

I had trouble getting into a couple of tracks, such as "Theories", but on the whole I found the album to be a very enjoyable experience. The changes in tempo kept my mind occupied and "Pelinguino" and "The Mandril vs. The Lion" have quickly become favourites of mine.

The downside to this album is that it may be a bit too inaccessible for the casual listener. You definitely need to give it your full attention, and I would also recommend playing it several times - as I found that many of the tracks here (including one of my favourites - "The Mandril...") need time to grow on you.

Image Treason is certainly a band that I'm keen to hear more from in the future.
