I've been extremely lucky with albums and EPs recently. The world of music is a bit like that - you wait around ages for something good to come along and then a dozen or so good things come along at once! Rather like buses... "Forget Every Sunrise" by Lahmia is definitely one of those things.
Lahmia aren't going to win any prizes for reinventing the wheel (I can only think of one band recently to even come close to that), but when it's this good, who fuckin' cares?
"Forget Every Sunrise" is packed with 5 tracks full to the brim with melodeath combined with a progressive edge.
The vocal style is reminiscent of many melodeath (and Death Metal in general) vocalists and I found that I could compare them to many of my favourite bands in the genre. Perhaps the most obscure vocal comparision would be to London's Matron, especially on the EP's opener "Nightfall".
The melodies really make each of the songs stand out and memorable in their own right. My favourite track from the EP is called "Glass Eyed Child". Everything about it screams CLASSIC!
The EP will appeal to fans of bands like Omnium Gatherum and In Flames. So, if that's the kind of thing to get your motor running then look no further.
