There's something about this band that makes me smile whenever I listen to them. Perhaps it's their straight forward approach to metal? Or perhaps it's just the feel good factor to most of the songs I've heard from them? Whatever it is, it's damn good.... and it's for this reason that I've ended up featuring the band on not one, but two of Loucifer Speaks' Podcasts.
With "From Radiation They Came" Slowtorch have provided us with another portion of high quality rock. I often see this band labelled as "stoner rock", but I think they have many more aspects to them than that. At times they even seem to slip back in time to a more Classic Rock sound. To be honest, when it sounds good and feels good, who really gives a crap what it's called?
The two tracks from this EP that really stand out for me are "Hillbilly" and the fantastic "Hellboozer", but all of the tracks have that strange ability to make you want to sing along. I described their previous release, "Adding Fuel To The Fire", as being a good record to drink a few beers to... and "From Radiation They Came" has definitely followed in it's footsteps. Get this CD, turn it up loud, invite a few friends around and have a few drinks. What more could you want?
