Interview

The Seventh Throne
Sometimes I have to opportunity to come across some very interesting bands on MySpace... One of which is The Seventh Throne...

Lou: Hails! Thank you for taking part in this interview. I've been listening to the four tracks that you have on MySpace and I love the atmosphere that seems to accompany them. Where were the tracks for "Malus Peior Pessimus" recorded?

The Seventh Throne: Thank you for giving us the opportunity for a great interview. The tracks for Malus was recorded here in Tampa, FL in my home studio using Sony Acid.

Lou: I take it that the chilling atmosphere was intentional, is this correct? This is especially apparent on "Destruction ov Creation" - a track that grows on me with every listen.

The Seventh Throne: Yes, the description of the atmosphere for this album has by far been my best creation yet and the song "Destruction ov Creation" had a very large Inquisition influence throughout the entire song.

Lou: When will "Malus Peior Pessimus" be available to buy and we can we get it from?

The Seventh Throne: Malus will be available in the early monts of 2008. There is no set release date as of yet, because we're still getting all of the artwork made and two tracks are still to be written. It will be available on the Black Goat Records website or anyone can buy it directly from us.

Lou: How would you describe the music on your forthcoming release?

The Seventh Throne: The music is very dark and epic. It's also very fast. With most of the songs on Malus, we won't be using a drum machine.

Lou: I know that you currently have an album out called "Lucifer's Choir". Where can we buy this release?

The Seventh Throne: You can get it from the Black Goat Records website or directly from us.

Lou: What has the general reaction been like to "Lucifer's Choir"?

The Seventh Throne: From what everyone's been saying, they either like the title track or the song "Depressing Revelations of Truth". Which is alright by me, but I personally enjoy the entire album.

Lou: How does "Lucifer's Choir" differ from "Malus Peior Pessimus"?

The Seventh Throne: Lucifer's Choir differs from Malus because on the Malus album, we don't use a drum machine, unlike Lucifer's choir where we used fruity loops for the drum trackings. On the Malus album, we'll be using a real drum kit for the recordings.

Lou: After reading your interview with Black Belle webzine, I discovered that the band got it's name from a book called "Goetia: The Lesser key of Solomon". What attracted you to the name?

The Seventh Throne: That's a good question. When I was glancing at it in the bookstore, I thought it would be a great band name seeing as though it states that after 1,200 years, Marchosias hopes to return unto the Seventh Throne.

Lou: I know - from reading on your MySpace - that you are very interested in the occult and this reflects heavily in your music. What draws you to the occult and when did your interest in it begin?

The Seventh Throne: It began when I was about 13 years old and watching old horror movies and occult myth books. It's greatly influenced myself and my music. Just knowing from the left hand path, that no one needs to worship any form of god except ones self.

Lou: Which track - out of all of The Seventh Throne's songs - contains your favourite lyric and why?

The Seventh Throne: That would have to be "In the Fires of Belial" without question. Just the line "Rise now oh evil lord, the morningstar flies tonight. Oh shine thy light!" It signifies the path an angel must take from falling from heaven down to the flames of hell.

Lou: I really like the artwork (well, what I've seen of it!) for "Lucifer's Choir". It looks like some kind of carving, is it taken from anything?

The Seventh Throne: It's supposed to be a woodcut carving of a satanic mass. I'm not sure if it was taken from anything, but I thought it fit quite well to the album's title.

Lou: I understand that the band recently went through a bit of line up change, where two the members - Eschaton and Arkam - left. Do you think that this change has affected the music in any way?

The Seventh Throne: None in the least. Eschaton and Arkham were great musicians, but conflicts did occur seeing that the two brothers were very involved with their other band "Ares". We are still on good terms with them, but it has not changed the music at all. I just decided to find other members who are more dedicated to the band and the way the music is portrayed.

Lou: Who is currently in the band and what are their duties?

The Seventh Throne: Svetekh - Guitars and Backing Vocals
Sulphur - Drums
Cholithias - Lead Vocals and Synth
No one is yet to fullfill my attention for the other guitar slot. Once I find someone worthy enough, it will be done and we will begin our onslaught unto the masses.

Lou: Which other bands have influenced you?

The Seventh Throne: Kult ov Azazel has inspired me alot when writing the material. Xaphan is a good friend of mine and his lyrics and guitar playing is amazing. Inquisition is another band that influenced me as well.

Lou: How long have you been signed to Black Goat and how did this deal come about?

The Seventh Throne: I've been signed to Black Goat since August of this year and it came about 3 days after I had music on the site. Anton liked it and offered me a deal.

Lou: Are you involved with any other bands?

Yes, I am the drummer for the infamous Florida black metal band Dry Spell. I am also one half of the funeral band Withering Shadows.

Lou: I couldn't help but notice that you don't have any live dates on your MySpace page. Will you be touring to promote "Malus Peior Pessimus"?

The Seventh Throne: I'm hoping to. I just need to find the second guitarist before we start booking shows. There may be a tour in the summer of next year to promote it and we'll be playing songs off of Lucifer's Choir, Malus, and the next album "Sacrificial Stone".

Lou: What's in store for The Seventh Throne in 2008?

The Seventh Throne: There's alot to be done for next year. Malus will be released, as well as the release of our third album "Sacrificial Stone". The cover art is already on our myspace profile and will soon be added to the new Seventh Throne website. Also a tour has been being talked about between myself and nathan of Cryptic Throne. So we shall see what happens.

Lou: Thank you for answering my questions and I look forward to hearing more stuff from you!

The Seventh Throne: Thank you for the great interview and with what is to come, I guarantee you won't be disappointed with what you hear. AVE!
