Freebie of the Week – Disinterred
It’s been ages since the last Freebie, so I aim to bring you one per day for the rest of the week. Here we go…
In case you’re not familiar with the concept of “Freebie of the Week”, here’s a brief explanation… Each week I go on a little hunt through the vast wastelands of the Internet in search of FREE and LEGAL downloads. So, all of the downloads featured here will be obtainable through trustworthy means… and they’ll be guilt-free. For example, I will only ever feature music available from official band websites, profiles (such as MySpace, Reverbnation or Facebook) and Last.fm (or equivalent)

I found out about this band because they will soon be releasing a split with the AMAZING The Infernal Sea. Luckily, they have a FREE demo that you can download to whet you appetite
Info:
Disinterred consist of 5 individuals who share a passion for underground music and have been active in the punk, hardcore, death and black scene. We strongly support a DIY attitude and an anti-christian mindset.

Since I’ve been a bit slow with updates this week, I thought I’d treat you all to another freebie to kickstart your weekend (the previous freebie, from Enfold Darkness, can be found here.

Helgardh are a fantastic Black Metal band that I discovered in the wilderness of Facebook. They have a track available to download (for FREE) from their Reverbnation page. The track is called “To Darkness Eternal” and is a demo version. It really gives you a good taster of Helgardh and I ended up buying the band’s album (“Ad Obscurus Aeternam”) on the strength of the track. You can download this little beauty by making use of the widget below:
Info:
Helgardh was formed in late 2009 in order to bring a much darker atmosphere to the Appalachian metal scene, and has been widely accepted throughout the eastern region of the US. Many influences have shown through in the music, which has created a more technical, aggressive style of black metal unique to the genre. This dark, aggressive style is described by Raging Power Web Magazine as a “recipe of dark, evil extreme black metal that is brutal to taste!!” -(Erick, Raging Power)
This is the beginning of the false metal genocide!!
Line-Up:

Adramalech :: Guitars
Abatu Malificus Bane :: Bass

Freebie of the Week – Enfold Darkness
In case you’re not familiar with the concept of “Freebie of the Week”, here’s a brief explanation… Each week I go on a little hunt through the vast wastelands of the Internet in search of FREE and LEGAL downloads. So, all of the downloads featured here will be obtainable through trustworthy means… and they’ll be guilt-free. Enfold Darkness are a band that I’ve been keeping an eye on for a while (their “Our Cursed Rapture” album was superb), so I jumped at the chance to download a brand new track from them. The track (a demo master) is called “Banishment” and is available by clicking here. Grab it, listen to it and, if you like it, go “like” the band on Facebook.
Info:
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee amidst an array of old music and southern hospitality, Enfold Darkness unleashes an ungodly European sound, combining the melodic riffs and technical precision of Gothenburg death metal with the ferocity and morose darkness of Norwegian black metal, creating a skillfully crafted blackened masterpiece that is their debut album, “Our Cursed Rapture.” Recorded in part by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Through the Eyes of The Dead), “Our Cursed Rapture” gives Death Metal and Black Metal fans alike a new experience.
As most bands experience constant lineup changes during their formative years, Enfold Darkness has had it’s fair share. After solidifying a lineup in 2008, the band was discovered by Mike Keene of The Faceless while opening for them in their hometown.
Enfold Darkness sets themselves apart from most of today’s extreme metal through delivering a soulful yet haunting performance – not relying on flashy playing alone. The dark and macabre lyrics leave one feeling as they have just read a chapter from an unearthed ancient demonic manuscript while leaving all of the cheesy, Satanic metal cliches behind.
After seeing the release of “Our Cursed Rapture” in November, 2009 on Sumerian Records, Enfold Darkness embarked on several nationwide tours with the likes of The Faceless, Dying Fetus, Goatwhore, and Burning The Masses just to name a few – all the while spreading their name and sound.

This is a little bit different to… well, everything. I heard Carved Lies on Hordes of Chaos on Metal Tavern Radio a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been meaning to feature their album on here ever since… so here it is! The album is available as a free (or ‘name your price’) download from Bandcamp, or just use the widget below:
Info:
Carved Lies are an Alternative | Industrial | Experimental band who are evidently influenced by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, and Tool. They introduce new found catchy grooves that would even make a corpse twitch and use sounds that will bend your mind.
